Juliana's room

With the Winter Solstice come and gone, and lengthening days upon us, I look forward to the spring again. Juliana's room reminds me of springtime. I painted her room before she was born, and we just celebrated her third Christmas! Time flies!

I need to take some better pics for my portfolio, but these will do for now!

Happy Color Day!

Today I organized my new collection of colorful threads, and got a color fan from Behr paints. I'm very excited, I can really pick out colors now for my projects.

Nathan's Room

Happy Thanksgiving!
This year, I'm very thankful for my growing family. We welcomed Nathan Maxwell a little over 2 months ago. While pregnant with him, I painted some characters in his nursery.

View as Nathan sees it

This fabric was part of my inspiration. I like to find one or two things, like a fabric swatch, a page from a children's book, or a stuffed animal to start with.

Meeting and start up ideas

Today, my baby Nathan and I met with a friend and her toddler about murals, business, jewelry making, and painting toy taxis. It was fun and semi-productive.  Yeah my biggest problem with going into business is what to do about kids! They are awesome, but not very good at meetings!

I also want to make felt mobiles. That match my murals, of course. I need to know how to sow. I think this has potential. My sister has a strange Polish sowing machine... I have to find out more about it! Maybe the felt mobiles will also explode into their own business, we will see.

Hello Blog!

Hi blog world. I'm a muralist and surface designer. That just means I like to design on things. I spent 9 years designing graphics and repeating patterns in NYC for children's sleepwear. So cute monkeys and funny characters are my thing! Now that I'm home with 2 kids of my own, I have been painting on all sorts of surfaces, but mostly walls. I love painting on walls because my art has always come out bigger than I intend. I consider this a good problem. When I paint on a canvas, my paintings just never seem to "fit". So walls are better. I also love repeating patterns, and I will include my current patterns on here too.

Thanks for reading, I'll be back soon. The kids need some fresh air right now.
